One thing Lions are known for across the state of Wisconsin is collecting used eyeglasses. The eyeglass recycling program is one of three vision-related service projects that Lions in Multiple District 27 (state of Wisconsin) participate in.
Here in our District 27-D1, all 57 clubs have collection buckets located in their communities for the public to drop off used eyeglasses. The collected glasses are then sorted and taken to the Eyeglass Recycling Center at the Wisconsin Lions Foundation in Rosholt, Wis., where they are sorted, washed, read for prescriptions, and prepared to be re-used on Lions missions not only around the world but also here in Wisconsin.
